Whistling Straits is a course quite elusive. A walk-only course, quite rugged and windswept, adjacent to the shore of Lake Michigan.
The grounds team had their work cut out for them leading up to this 43rd Annual Ryder Cup. Watering, mowing, trimming, they did it all, and the course played beautifully as the Pros showcased some of their best shots this year.
As we now know, Team USA hit an early lead and never once let up. On Friday morning alone, over 30 birdies were recorded. In addition, Eagles were not left out with Bryson DeChambeau landing 2, along with one each from Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Paul Casey, and Jordan Speith.
Now let’s not forget these are the pros we are talking about here. Shooting scores around 68, below par as they should be. According to our Golfshot statistics for Whistling Straits, our community averages about a 94 on this well-known course.
